A Canadian couple who have been
to the world’s top dive sites have chosen Palau to be the venue of their
wedding. An underwater wedding at the Chandelier Cave, just a short boat
drive away from Palau Pacific Resort, took place on March 17 with Rev. Fr.
Rusk Saburo celebrating the union of Allen Feinberg and Martine Cyr. The two
are from Montreal, Canada and their wedding here was arranged by Splash Dive
Shop of Palau Pacific Resort. It was Feinberg who learned about Palau while
in Bora Bora, French Polynesia. Feinberg said he read a book in the resort
about the top 100 hotels in the world, which included Palau Pacific Resort.
He said he then consulted his Lonely Planet Guidebook and read about Palau
and Micronesia. He then told his fiancée that they would get married in
Palau. “We planned with Miriam Cabral of Splash about the arrangements of
the underwater wedding,” Feinberg said. Both licensed scuba divers, the
couple have been to various dive sites around the world including Fiji,
Tahiti, Bahamas, Thailand, Borneo, Malaysia and Maldives. “We rate Palau as
one of the top three places in the world to take a vacation. People are very
friendly here,” Feinberg said. Feinberg is the director of operations of
Mega Projects, while Martine works in a bank. “The wedding came out better
than our expectations. The lighting of the cave was good, the staff was
cooperative and the weather was great,” Feinberg said. Four staffers from
Splash Dive Shop and two Japanese videographers from Photo Palau were there
to record the wedding. The couple arrived in Palau on March 12 and left on
March 26.
